Are failing, flexible joints giving you a headache?

UltraScape has the solution!

UltraScape PaveJoint plus is a specialist jointing compound that provides a flexible yet durable finish when cured. It is suitable for use with most types of paving including natural stone, concrete, slate, clay, terracotta and granite.

PaveJoint plus is a clear choice for flexible paving –

  • Suitable for use with most types of paving
  • Long lasting, durable joint
  • Protects paving from weed growth
  • Can be used in all weather
  • Resistant to freeze/thaw weather conditions
  • Non-staining
  • Fills joints 3-20mm
  • No waste, left over material can be re-used
  • Available in grey, black and natural
  • Size: 25kg bucket

PaveJoint plus can be used on pavements and lightly trafficked pedestrianised areas with occasional vehicular use. Water is used to pre-soak the surface and this also helps the sand to penetrate deep into the paving joint. Staining of the paving is prevented by keeping the area wet during application.

UltraCrete Features in Multi-Million Pound Redevelopment.

UltraCrete’s  HF high flow precision grout has been used in the £30 million redevelopment of Wolverhampton’s  major shopping complex, the Mander Centre.

The refurbishment work, set to complete in October 2017, is one of the most significant private sector investments in the city for over 20 years. The remodelling of the centre will create 10 new large retail units to complement the anchor store, Debenhams and create 150 + new job opportunities.

Sub-contractor, Laidlaw Ltd, installed a number of balustrades in the centre’s internal atrium using UltraCrete’s HF. The edges of the existing concrete floor slabs were shuttered before UltraCrete’s HF grout was poured to create a completely flat surface to bolt the balustrade track down. The balustrades installed used 24.89mm laminated sentry glass which can withstand a 3kN loading.

UltraCrete’s HF complies with the Department of Transport specification 2601 and is suitable for the infill of voids from 10mm-100mm. It is ideal as a bridge bearing grout as well as for the securing of balustrades, stanchion plates, machine beds and parapet legs and achieves a compressive strength of 70N/mm². It can be pumped or poured and will not corrode or stain.

Nigel Higgins, Contracts Manager, Laidlaw Ltd commented, ‘UltraCrete’s HF was excellent and performed exactly as required.’

UltraCrete helps holiday makers take to the skies

A busy bus lane outside Liverpool John Lennon Airport has been reinstated by Highways Contractor Cambrianway using UltraCrete products.

Time was of the essence to reinstate several manhole covers on a heavily trafficked bus route directly outside John Lennon Airport.

Cambrianway selected materials from the UltraCrete range due to their rapid set times and strength gain.  The area had several covers which required breaking out and reinstating with new ironwork.

The frames were installed using UltraCrete’s HAPAS approved manhole reinstatement system, comprising a range of bedding mortars, backfill flowable concrete, cold lay asphalt and seal and tack coat spray. The system is ideal for the reinstatement of linear drainage, and ironwork in areas exposed to extreme trafficking.

Envirobed HA104 ® high performance bedding mortar was used to bed the frames. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to resin based materials and can be used in wet weather and in temperatures as low as 1°C, so no delays due to poor weather conditions.  Envirobed HA104 ® was selected as it achieves an impressive 51N/mm² compressive strength after 3 hours and can be open to traffic in 60 minutes which was crucial when used outside a busy airport.

The ironwork was backfilled with UltraCrete’s rapid setting flowable concrete QC10F.  It is fibre modified for added strength and achieves 20N/mm² after just 90 minutes. It is easy to mix and literally pours from the bucket facilitating speedy application.  UltraCrete’s  Instant Road Repair 10mm was used as the surface finish, which can be opened to traffic immediately once compacted.

John Gallager from Cambrianway was very happy with the products performance ‘the customer has been delighted with the speed and the quality of the work.  Disruption has been kept at a minimum.  It is clear from the overall finish that the products used are of a high performance and quality – there are no signs of wear and tear.  I would be happy to recommend the UltraCrete range to others’.

UltraCrete’s M90 Goes Down in History

UltraCrete’s M90 has been used to install a number of brass plaques in and around the historic town of Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire.

The ancient town is steeped in history with many points of interest. Pembrokeshire County Council were looking to install approximately 25 brass plaques into the footways to highlight these landmarks.

UltraCrete’s M90 all purpose fast set mortar was the cost effective choice for installing the signs.  The product achieves a high bond strength of >1N/mm²  after 28 days and a compressive strength of 21N/mm² within 2 hours, allowing the area to be opened to traffic thereafter. It can accommodate depths from 10-75mm in one pass and sets in 20 minutes, making it difficult to deface, improving public image and limiting asset liability.

Pembrokeshire CC commented ‘great material, easy to use, fast setting and vandal proof!‘

UltraCrete M90 is supplied in handy 25kg buckets and paper bags  – great for sites with limited access! It is one of a number of advanced repair and refurbishment products within the UltraCrete portfolio . Find out more by contacting us on 01827 254402, or email ultracrete@instarmac.co.uk

UltraCrete Instant Road Repair takes off at Santiago International Airport

Instarmac’s Chilean partner, Interadi have supplied UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® to Santiago International Airport for a number of pothole repairs on one of their runways.

Comodoro Arturo Benítez International Airport – otherwise known as Santiago International Airport – is owned by the Chilean State and is the 6th busiest airport in South America. Headquarters for the Chilean Air Force, Santiago International Airport sees airlines regularly travelling to Europe and the Americas, and is South America’s main gateway to Australia and New Zealand.

After a number of failed installations, the Chilean State had been looking for a pothole repair product that would outperform the current methods used on their runways.

17.2 million people travelled from Santiago International Airport in 2015 (with numbers expecting to double, to over 34 million by 2034), therefore it was crucial that the material chosen would provide a permanent repair, could withstand heavy and constant trafficking and cause minimal disruption to passengers. After careful research, the Chilean State trialled world renowned UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® for the repair.

UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® is a first time permanent pothole repair which has been continuously developed over the past 35 years and used all around the world with excellent results. It is being used on a daily basis in all climates, from the snow bound island of Hokkaido in Japan, to the tropical monsoon hit roads of Malaysia, in the freezing cold Scandinavian winters, the heat of the Namibian desert and the temperate climates of Europe. UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® performed well in Chile, where temperatures soared to 25°C on the day of the repairs.

There are many cold lay asphalt repair products available, but UltraCrete backs up its technical claims! Strength is gained by compaction, becoming stronger the more  traffic travels over it, making it the ideal product for repairs to the runway. UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® has been used to repair damaged asphalt on a number of international airports including Heathrow, Milan Linate, Narita Tokyo, Warsaw and Hamburg.

Applied in 3 easy steps – clean, pour, compact – UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® can be applied in all weathers including hot, wet and cold. What’s more, potholes repaired with UltraCrete Instant Road Repair® can be trafficked instantly making it ideal for environments where delays and disruption are not an option!

This innovative material conforms to vigorous European Testing, and has been independently tested by the British Board of Agrément and is proven to be a quality, flexible and durable solution for first time, permanent pothole repairs.
