Major indoor pool refurbishment and extension completes at popular Haven holiday park.
The clocks have changed and April’s weather has seen temperatures rise to those worthy of summer days with bright blue skies. The countdown to the Summer holiday has begun and it is clear those who have booked to visit Haven’s holiday park in Primrose Valley near Filey, North Yorkshire are in for a treat.
The park’s lucky holiday makers this year will enjoy a new pool facility, refurbished, extended in size and tiled by The Great Northern Tiling Company (GNTC). This prestigious project, over 1000m² in size includes the pool surrounds, changing rooms, entrance area and waterfall feature wall. Six different types of tile were used including mosaics, ceramics and a decorative pebble effect, all of which were fixed using UltraTile products.
The venue’s sand/cement screeds were firstly prepared with UltraTile Level IT FX, the brand’s fibre fortified floor leveller. This non-crack, protein free and polymer modified leveller is applied to smooth and level existing substrates ensuring a strong, sound and even base to tile onto.
Three herringbone wall tile designs were created in the reception/entrance area and the changing rooms using UltraTile ProGrip HG – a high grab, non-slip ready mixed adhesive. This product is ideal for use with standard and large format ceramic wall tiles and also with porcelain mosaics, glass and natural stone all without the need to prime first. It’s a popular tiler’s choice for versatility and ease of use.
UltraTile ProFlex SP+ES was also used for fixing large format wall tiles. This adhesive has a pot life of 2 hours and is therefore ideal for heavy tiles or intricate tiling work.
Floor tiles were fixed throughout the facility with the rapid setting UltraTile ProFlex SP. Formulated to achieve the significant S1 classification, it is ideal for use on swimming pool installations and with most tile types. The adhesive is available in white or grey and can be applied at bed depths up to 20mm.
All wall and floor tiling including the wall mosaic designs were grouted using either, all purpose UltraTile FlexJoint or specially formulated FineJoint. A choice of colours were used to compliment the many different tiles including Jasmine, Grey and White. Both grouts boast mould resistant and water repellent properties ideal for submersed and frequently wetted areas.
The latest grout colour to be added to the UltraTile range is Beige, available in FlexJoint this delicate neutral tone can be used with all tile types.
Billy Lockwood, GNTC states: “The customer service received from UltraTile is always excellent, the products perform and there’s always one suitable for the job in hand. Delivery direct to site is an added extra and benefits us massively when trying to manage client expectations.” Primrose Valley is not the first successful Haven contract that GNTC and UltraTile have partnered on with Golden Sands, Mablethorpe being another.
