Combining both office and retail space, Islington’s newly
refurbished Angel Building is quickly becoming a striking new
addition to the capital’s historical areas.
UltraScape’s fully compliant BS 7533 mortar paving system has
played a major role in the recent refurbishment.
Derwent London, the project developer, set to renovate
The Angel Building and bring modern office and retail
accommodation to this rapidly growing and energetic part of
Sub contractors, J Browne Construction Company Limited,
were given the responsibility of enhancing the surrounding
streetscape, a new 1000m² landscaped public space around
the perimeter of the Angel Building.
UltraScape’s Pro-Bed HS bedding mortar, Pro-Prime slurry
primer and Flowpoint flowable grout were specified and used to
lay 60x60x60mm diamond sawn, silver grey granite setts.
Pro-Bed HS provided a bedding base that, along with the entire
system, conforms to BS 7533. Pro-Prime slurry primer was
then applied to the underside of the setts for a stronger bond
between the bedding and the setts. Flowpoint rapid setting
flowable grout, was poured over the paved area and worked
into the joints with a squeegee and then simply washed away,
with no worry of staining. With Flowpoint, areas can be opened
to foot traffic after only one hour.
Both Pro-Bed HS and Flowpoint are also available as ECO
products, containing 20% recycled glass. When Pro-Bed HS
is ordered in a 30 tonne silo, this equals a massive 6 tonnes of
non-virgin aggregate in one silo.
