UltraCrete gets a Royal seal of approval

In preparation for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, UltraCrete was used to carry out repairs throughout Windsor.

Shortly after the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle was announced in November 2017, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead voted and agreed to bring forward a budget of £2.6 million for improvement works ahead of the Royal Wedding – a project UltraCrete are very proud to have been involved in,

Over 18 million Brits tuned in on the 19th May hoping for a glimpse of the bride-to-be. Who can forget the touching scenes as the newly married Duke and Duchess of Sussex emerged from St George’s Chapel and made their way to the regal Ascot Landau Carriage for an open top Royal procession through the streets of Windsor.

As the sun shone down on the happy couple in the charming carriage, pulled along by four handsome Windsor Grey Horses and flanked by the Escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, Windsor had never looked more glorious.

In preparation for the wedding of the year, a number of improvements were made to the Royal Borough of Windsor – improvements that will last for years to come.

Part of the improvements involved the installation of signs and repairs to a number of footways – essential work for ensuring the safety of over 100,000 people who lined the streets of Windsor to join in with the celebrations.

Volker Highways, the chosen contractor for this project, used UltraCrete RSC rapid setting concrete and Post Fix rapid hardening concrete to complete the repairs.

Fast setting with an early high strength gain, RSC rapid setting cement was the perfect choice for the footway repairs which included kerb and surface concrete repairs as well as bedding slabs. Available in contractor friendly 20kg units, RSC is opened to traffic in just 1 hour, allowing contractors to move on to another project quickly, making it ideal for projects with a quick turnaround, such as this one.

Post Fix provided the perfect professional grade concrete for the installation of a number of signs throughout Windsor. Formulated for sub-surface use and the fast installation of posts, signs, fences, speed cameras and street lighting, Post Fix is fast setting and boasts an impressive compressive strength of 41N/mm² – vital for a permanent installation.

UltraCrete materials have been tried, trusted and used throughout Windsor for a number of years, making RSC and Post Fix an obvious choice for this once in a lifetime project.
