Working Together with You

As a market-leading brand for over 40 years, UltraCrete understands the importance of collaborative working and how working together with stakeholders, suppliers, industry experts and employees can, and has, led to new and improved standards and enhanced product development as well as providing sustainable solutions to an ever-evolving industry.

Working Together towards a Circular Economy

UltraCrete appreciates the significance of a circular economy and look for ways to reduce their impact on the environment. Delivering sustainable products and solutions has always been of the utmost importance to UltraCrete and influences every business decision they make. With this in mind, UltraCrete have successfully implemented a number of environmental policies at their state-of-the-art premises in Staffordshire including a plastic container and pallet recycling scheme, helping to reduce waste to landfill whilst saving their customers time and money. Furthermore, since 2014, UltraCrete has boasted ‘zero waste to landfill’ which means 100% of waste is recycled.

Working Together towards Product Innovation

UltraCrete works with leading certification bodies to develop specifications and approvals for a range of maintenance solutions that help raise standards, reduce risk and save money.

This has included the British Board of Agrément (BBA), with whom they created the first ever HAPAS approval for a thermoplastic overbanding tape – Instaband ECO. They have also worked alongside the BBA, and more recently, Paving Testing Services Ltd., to develop highway approved standards for patch repair materials, such as HAPAS and PAS.

In 2002, they helped set the performance criteria of the HA104 specification for bedding mortars for ironwork and were the first brand to develop a cementitious version that fully met those requirements.

Working Together to Keep the Network Moving

UltraCrete never stands still. They are constantly enhancing and developing product formulations and their high performance materials undergo rigorous testing to ensure longevity and  durability. Consistent product development has meant UltraCrete materials are trusted by the industry to provide maximum performance every single time. Their fast setting properties keep downtime to a minimum and eliminate repeat visits – helping to keep our network moving.

In addition, all UltraCrete products are delivered on their privately owned, FORS Silver accredited fleet, which is fully tracked in-house, meaning our customers always receive first class service which operates to the highest efficiencies and standards.

Working Together to Minimise Risk

UltraCrete know that working on our roads isn’t without risk. Ensuring operatives are working as safely as possible is  crucial, and with that in mind, UltraCrete have developed a number of products that are fast setting, minimising the amount of time spent on the roadside or on vulnerable locations, and have created cementitious alternatives to resin based materials, creating a healthier working environment.

UltraCrete have gone one-step further and regularly welcome visitors to their custom built training facilities, where operatives can receive product training by a member of their experienced Site Support Team and can learn which PPE is required and how to handle and use products as safely as possible.

This initiative, alongside many other safety procedures implemented at UltraCrete, has earned them the prestigious RoSPA Gold Medal Award for the previous 6 years.

Working Together Globally

Over the past 40 years, UltraCrete have become synonymous with providing durable and proven solutions to today’s highway maintenance problems. Not only do UltraCrete provide solutions to the UK market, their trusted products are also available worldwide through a network of licensees and distributors. Each Licensee benefits from dedicated and personal training, marketing and sales support.

Working together with industry partners is second nature to UltraCrete and something they have encouraged over the past 40 years. Working with partners has allowed UltraCrete to find solutions, improve efficiencies and ultimately save their customers time and money. Similarly, UltraCrete work closely alongside industry bodies such as the RSTA and HAUC to develop codes of practice to raise standards and provide guidance to practitioners.

Working Together with our Supply Chain

UltraCrete have made and maintained strong relationships with their supply chain to ensure they always meet their customers’ needs and have made significant investments to ensure their manufacturing facility is always at the forefront of today’s technology. These advances in technology allow UltraCrete to produce their world renowned cold lay asphalt repair products on a ‘just in time’ basis which means their customers will always receive the freshest material possible.

kerb repairs

Kerb and Patch Repair saves Council time and money

UltraCrete have worked with Worcestershire County Council to carry out a number of kerb repairs using UltraCrete Kerb and Patch Repair.

The current method for repairing kerbs in Worcestershire involved removing and replacing the entire kerb – a costly and time-consuming task as parked cars often restricted access to the repair site.

With this in mind, Worcestershire County Council began looking for an alternative repair product that would be suitable for sites with limited access and provide an efficient and permanent repair.

After careful research Worcestershire County Council trialled UltraCrete Kerb and Patch Repair for the repairs and UltraCrete are pleased to announce that as a result of successful product trials, Kerb and Patch Repair is now the chosen repair method throughout Worcestershire.

On this exciting development, Chris Hollingshead from Worcestershire County Council commented: “UltraCrete’s Kerb and Patch Repair is a quick and efficient solution enabling us to carry out repairs to kerbs instead of replacing them. This has saved us time and money.”

Kerb and Patch Repair is a high strength concrete repair specifically formulated for reinstating smaller areas such as kerbs and steps – a feature Worcestershire County Council found particularly appealing as any costs associated with their existing repair method, such as purchasing kerbs and the extra resource required to install them, are all eradicated.

Pre-measured to eliminate on-site mixing errors, Kerb and Patch Repair has a set time pf 25 minutes and can be opened to traffic in 2 hour allowing contractors to move on to other projects quickly increasing productivity.

Available in contractor friendly 10kg units, Kerb and Patch Repair is the ideal product for sites with limited access, such as this one, and because the tubs can be resealed and used another day, there is no wasted product leftover.

Tiling mercedes benz

UltraTileFix excels at Mercedes-Benz Showroom

Experienced tiling contractors, Great Northern Tiling Company, have used UltraTileFix to install over 3,000m² of wall and floor tiling at the esteemed Mercedes-Benz Showroom in Birmingham.

With a market share of 7.12% and selling 5,000 more cars than any other premium car manufacturer, it is unsurprising that Mercedes-Benz has become synonymous with luxurious, superior and top quality cars.

The Central Birmingham Mercedes-Benz car showroom required new wall and floor tiling throughout the branch in order to retain the high standards their customers have come to expect.

The Great Northern Tiling Company (GNTC), TTA members and skilled tiling contractors with almost 20 years experience in the commercial sector, secured this exciting project and used UltraTileFix materials to complete the job.

Before any floor tiling could commence, GNTC needed to prepare the substrate by priming the entire area with ProPrimer, an advanced polymer primer for exceptional bond and multiple substrates. Designed for both porous and non-porous substrates, ProPrimer enhances the adhesion of all UltraTileFix floor levellers and is proven to reduce substrate porosity.

Once ProPrimer had been applied and fully dried, GNTC used ProLevel Fibre reinforced flexible floor leveller to create a strong, sound and even base, ready for tiling to commence.

A single part, high strength, rapid drying and curing concrete floor leveller, ProLevel Fibre boasts a 3 hour set time and can be tiled after just 8 hours, an important feature for projects where downtime needs to be kept to a minimum, such as this one.

What’s more, ProLevel Fibre has been formulated using FibreBond Technology, a process which involves  the addition of fibre particles for superior strength, creating the ideal substrate to support the weight of the cars on display in the showroom and the constant footfall of visitors.

Completing the project, GNTC used ProFlex SP and ProFlex SPES adhesives to fix 2,621m² of floor tiles and 400m² of wall tiles throughout the showroom.

ProFlex SP rapid set flexible tile adhesive and ProFlex SPES standard set flexible tile adhesive are both classified as S1 in accordance with EN 12004 and have a high level of deformation for greater tolerance to movement. The S1 properties of ProFlex SP and ProFlex SPES make them the perfect choice for timber floors, swimming pools and underfloor heating systems.

ProFlex SP and ProFlex SPES, along with every other product available from UltraTileFix boasts a lifetime guarantee, giving you complete confidence that UltraTileFix products are designed to last.

prevent dangerous potholes

UltraCrete helps prevent potholes on Northamptonshire’s roads

UltraCrete Surface Defect Repair has been used to repair a number of defects and cracks across Northamptonshire’s road network, helping to prevent dangerous potholes from forming.

After a long and harsh winter, Northamptonshire’s already vulnerable road network and deteriorated even further, causing Northamptonshire Highways to look for alternative and permanent highway maintenance solutions.

UltraCrete’s Area Sales Manager for the Midlands, Dave Youell, visited Kier’s Highways Department, the contractor chosen to complete the repairs, to carry out a demonstration of Surface Defect Repair – a product developed to address specific areas of preventative maintenance.

Following a successful demonstration, product training was carried out, which resulted in Northamptonshire Highways and Kier adopting and using this innovative repair system as part of their ongoing approach to maintain the road network.

Through consultation with contractors and clients, UltraCrete identified that early treatment of defects in carriageways of thin surface asphalt repairs, would prevent the formation of costly potholes and their associated risks.

As a result, UltraCrete’s team of in-house Development Chemists embarked on months of extensive product testing to present Surface Defect Repair to the market – a product that is applied to minor surface defects in footways and carriageways which then stops potholes from forming.

Durable and easy to use, Surface Defect Repair is a granular thermoplastic material with anti-skid dressing and is perfect for use on contracts where asset management allows for early identification of minor defects and can be built into the ongoing maintenance programme.

Surface Defect Repair has been used on Northamptonshire’s roads since November 2017. On adopting this innovative product, Stuart Mann Highways Depot Manager at Northamptonshire County Council, commented: “We are very pleased with the results and will continue to use Surface Defect Repair across the network.”

For further information on Surface Defect Repair or to request a free product demonstration, please contact UltraCrete’s team of experts by emailing or calling 01827 254402.
