Tilers Community Academy Day March 2023

On a very snowy day in March, UltraTile welcomed 30 members of the Tilers Community Facebook group for another exclusive Academy Day.

To ensure UltraTile delivered training the community wanted, members of the Facebook group were asked what topics they would like to learn more about. As a result of the poll, it was decided that Substrate Preparation would be the next training topic.

Attendees began their day by joining UltraTile’s Martin Pouncey and Alan Collins for a morning of classroom learning. Martin and Alan, who have over 40 years combined experience working in the tiling industry, guided the tilers through every stage of substrate preparation including moisture testing and how to remove residue.

After lunch, the 30-strong group enjoyed some practical lessons in mixing and applying a leveller to an insulation board with electrical underfloor heating system as well as a demonstration on how to remove laitance from a concrete substrate.

In addition, the group also benefitted from a 30-minute talk and product demonstration with Amber Underfloor Heating, one of the leading underfloor heating specialists in the UK.

Before goodbyes were said, everyone who attended walked away with UltraTile and Amber goody bags with James from Showcase Tiling Solutions also bagging a £300 Amazon Voucher as part of the popular prize draws.

Despite the snowy weather, the day was a huge success and UltraTile received some fantastic feedback from the tiling community.
