Utility Sector

United Utilities, BT and Scottish Water are just some of the leading utility suppliers who have approved Instarmac’s refurbishment materials for use in their utility reinstatements.

Utilities

In the UK, the utility sector covers the installation and maintenance of electricity, gas and water supplies and ‘serves millions of homes, businesses, schools and hospitals in order to keep the lights on, taps running and gas flowing’. Without the 738,000 people working within the utility sector helping to maintain and distribute our supply, the country would certainly crumble, and very quickly.

What’s more, the utility sector is changing. Coal is declining, wind farms are becoming more important and increasing numbers of homes and businesses are sourcing ways to generate, store and sell their own electricity supply.

With this in mind, it is crucial that the utility sector can rely on manufacturers and the supply chain to provide them with materials that are guaranteed to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry.

Instarmac is a business that never stands still. We pride ourselves on being at the forefront of today’s technology to provide our customers with maintenance and installation materials they can trust.

United Utilities, BT and Scottish Water are just some of the leading utility suppliers who have approved Instarmac’s refurbishment materials for use in their utility reinstatements.

Instarmac’s product offering is ideal for a range of applications including the installation of telegraph poles, signposts, exchange points as well as for the reinstatement of utility excavations and around water metres and access covers. Our bedding, repair and refurbishment materials are independently tested and proven and offer fast setting and time saving advantages.

In 2021, we announced the launch of Mortar Buoy® – a next generation, innovative, ironwork installation aid. Mortar Buoy® is a ground-breaking, inflatable device that acts as a dam, allowing for a flowable mortar ironwork installation within seconds – completely revolutionising traditional utility repair methods.

For the fast and efficient installation of heavy duty posts, choose UltraCrete’s QC10 F flowable rapid set concrete. It is fibre modified for added strength and achieves 20N/mm² after just 90 minutes. It is easy to mix and literally pours from the bucket facilitating a speedy application.

Eliminate vandalism to concrete repairs with UltraCrete’s QC6 rapid set surfacing concrete. Ideal for the surface reinstatement of ‘picture frames’ or fillets around access covers, water metre excavations and for general repairs, QC6 sets in just 15 minutes making it difficult to deface, improving public image and limiting asset liability.

For surface reinstatements to footways, drives and car parks, use UltraCrete’s Instant Road Repair 6mm cold lay asphalt concrete that can just be poured from the tub and compacted to provide a lasting repair. It is instantly trafficable too, so minimal disruption to pedestrians. It is also available in 10mm for more heavily trafficked areas and comes in a handy 25kg re-sealable tub, so no waste and great for sites with limited access.

To mark underground utility supplies use UltraCrete LMP Line Marking Paint. Available in four colours – white to mark excavation areas, blue for water, red for electricity and yellow for gas – LMP is an easy and efficient way of marking underground utility supplies for a safe repair.

Instarmac are proud members of Street Works UK (formerly National Joint Utilities Group).
