UltraCrete helps holiday makers take to the skies10th August 2016
A busy bus lane outside Liverpool John Lennon Airport has been reinstated by Highways Contractor Cambrianway using UltraCrete products.
Time was of the essence to reinstate several manhole covers on a heavily trafficked bus route directly outside John Lennon Airport.
Cambrianway selected materials from the UltraCrete range due to their rapid set times and strength gain. The area had several covers which required breaking out and reinstating with new ironwork.
The frames were installed using UltraCrete’s HAPAS approved manhole reinstatement system, comprising a range of bedding mortars, backfill flowable concrete, cold lay asphalt and seal and tack coat spray. The system is ideal for the reinstatement of linear drainage, and ironwork in areas exposed to extreme trafficking.
Envirobed HA104 ® high performance bedding mortar was used to bed the frames. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to resin based materials and can be used in wet weather and in temperatures as low as 1°C, so no delays due to poor weather conditions. Envirobed HA104 ® was selected as it achieves an impressive 51N/mm² compressive strength after 3 hours and can be open to traffic in 60 minutes which was crucial when used outside a busy airport.
The ironwork was backfilled with UltraCrete’s rapid setting flowable concrete QC10F. It is fibre modified for added strength and achieves 20N/mm² after just 90 minutes. It is easy to mix and literally pours from the bucket facilitating speedy application. UltraCrete’s Instant Road Repair 10mm was used as the surface finish, which can be opened to traffic immediately once compacted.
John Gallager from Cambrianway was very happy with the products performance ‘the customer has been delighted with the speed and the quality of the work. Disruption has been kept at a minimum. It is clear from the overall finish that the products used are of a high performance and quality – there are no signs of wear and tear. I would be happy to recommend the UltraCrete range to others’.
