A&L Tiling Ltd delivers seamless domestic flooring installation using UltraTile

A&L Tiling Ltd, a proud member of The Tile Association, has successfully completed a high-specification ground floor tiling project using UltraTile products to deliver a seamless, contemporary finish throughout a large domestic property.

The 150sqm project spanned the entire ground floor of the home, including the kitchen, open-plan living area, utility room, office, cinema room and toilet. The brief required a flawless, continuous finish using large format 1200 x 1200 porcelain tiles, completed with a tight two-week programme.

One of the key challenges of the project was achieving the correct floor levels, with the floor needing to be ramped up by approximately 1.2m towards the rear sliding doors. To overcome this, Adrian O’Clements, owner of A&L Tiling Ltd, carefully built up the floor using ProFlex SPES tile adhesive before finishing with UltraFloor Feather IT to achieve a smooth, flat surface reading for tiling.

ProFlex SPES is a standard set flexible tile adhesive available in both white and grey. ProFlex SPES is an S1 classified adhesive in accordance with EN 12004 and boasts a high level of deformation for greater tolerance to movement. The S1 properties of ProFlex SPES make it an ideal choice for timber and underfloor heating systems.

UltraFloor Feather IT is a rapid drying, very fine particle, high polymer cementitious compound. It offers excellent adhesion characteristics and is suitable for applications on a wide variety of substrates. Feather IT boasts excellent adhesion without a primer, has an open time of 10-15 minutes and can be walked over after just 30 minutes.

Once the desired levels were achieved, a Ditra 25 decoupling membrane was installed to help manage movement and protect the tiled surface. The large format porcelain tiles were the laid to the client’s preference, flowing seamlessly from the main open-plan kitchen and living space into adjoining areas including the utility and cinema room.

Movement joints were incorporated using Schlüter DILEX-FC profiles, which were perfectly colour-matched with UltraTile ProGrout Epoxy in White. This attention to detail ensured a clean, modern aesthetic while providing the durability and performance for a large domestic installation.

ProGrout Epoxy is a water-based epoxy resin grout for waterproof, stain-resistant grouting of porcelain tiles, ceramics and glass mosaics. Suitable for wall and floor tiling in environments where hygiene is key, ProGrout Epoxy is destined to revolutionise your grouting requirements.

The completed installation demonstrates how the right combination of preparation, premium materials and skilled workmanship can deliver outstanding results on complex domestic projects.
