Retirement of Phil Staniforth

In 1970 a 15 year old Phil Staniforth left school on a Wednesday and started working at Randall Builder Merchants the very next day, within 5 years Phil was Branch Manager.

Phil’s successful and lengthy career in the building and construction industry has included working for the likes of Browns in Derby, Arthur Sydall in Grantham and Joseph Parr in the North East but it was 1992 when Phil moved to Granfix as National Sales Manager where his love for the tile industry started.

Over the next 24 years Phil developed and nurtured the Granfix brand moving through the ranks to Sales Director in 1995 and then onto Managing Director in 2001.  Over this period Phil took a small product offering and developed it significantly with new product research and development.  He took a relatively unknown brand and grew it to become a top 4 manufacturer of tiling and flooring products in the UK.

His knowledge of the tile industry is second to none with customers always happy to see him and have a chat over a cup of tea.

Over the last 12 months Phil has been instrumental to the acquisition and integration of the Granfix brand into the Instarmac Group, and has enjoyed utilising the additional resources available.

Phil is now moving on to the next chapter of his life and it is with a heavy heart we announce Phil’s retirement from the tile industry.  Phil has been a welcome addition to the Instarmac team and his knowledge, experience and friendly nature will be missed by us all.  We know he is looking forward to spending time with his wife, children and 5 grandchildren and wish him the best of luck in his retirement.
