UltraCrete wins coveted Employment & Skills at RSTA Awards for second year running

UltraCrete, a leading manufacturer of high-performance highway maintenance materials, has once again been recognised for their outstanding commitment to employee development and skills training by winning the prestigious Employment & Skills RSTA Award for the second consecutive year.

This significant achievement highlights UltraCrete’s ongoing dedication to investing in the next generation of skilled professionals within the highway industry. Through their robust UltraCrete Accredited Reinstatement Specification training programme, UltraCrete provides classroom-based theory, hands-on training and valuable industry insights to aspiring individuals, equipping them with knowledge and tools to excel in their career.

UltraCrete were delighted to be recognised by the RSTA for their commitment to supporting and nurturing apprentices at Salford City College Group and Derwentside College. Both colleges have successfully established UCARS as part of their syllabus, an approach that not only benefits the apprentices themselves by also contributes to the overall growth and sustainability of the highways sector by developing a highly skilled and adaptable workforce, ready to tackle the challenges of the future.

On working with UltraCrete, Allan Milne, Director of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement at Salford City College commented: “We are delighted to have a very close working relationship with UltraCrete. The UCARS course they have designed, and deliver, is market-leading, raising standards across the sector. It is a vital, additional component for our apprentices, providing them with additional insight into the high standards required. It makes them better, more informed operatives and adds real value to our apprenticeship programmes.”

Kris Lauder, Lecturer in Construction at Derwentside College also shared: “Over the past 12 months, our partnership with UltraCrete has strengthened, bringing real value to the industry. With UCARS now part of the syllabus for all Groundworker and Highways Maintenance Skilled Operatives attending our college, we are ensuring that apprentices from local authorities, large contractors, and family-run firms, receive both top-tier theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice experience. We are very proud to be working closely with such a reputable firm.”

On winning the Employment & Skills RSTA Award, Richard Moss, Head of Civils at UltraCrete, remarked: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to share that our amazing team have taken home the prestigious Employment & Skills Award for the second time running!
