UltraFloor is driving force at Eddie Stobart warehouse

After a long day on the road, Eddie Stobart Drivers are now able to enjoy their newly refurbished rest room and kitchen facilities, thanks to Showpiece Flooring and UltraFloor.

Background

The iconic Eddie Stobart lorries have played a crucial part in the UK’s supply chain since the 1970s. They have seen significant growth over the last four decades and have conquered both road and rail. In 2022, they expanded their Stoke-on-Trent Transport Depot to include new facilities for their staff group.

The Challenge

Eddie Stobart is a 24/7 operation with employees coming and going all hours of the day. Ensuring the project was completed on time was paramount.

The Solution

Commercial flooring specialists, Showpiece Flooring, utilised UltraFloor’s expert subfloor preparation materials at this exciting location.

Before levelling could commence, the concrete power floated substrate required the application of DPM IT to create a structural membrane. DPM IT is a two component, solvent free epoxy resin system for use as a surface damp proof membrane. Designed to provide protection against subfloor moisture, DPM IT has a pot life of 45 – 75 minutes, a cure time of 5 hours and boasts a 98% RH floor moisture tolerance.

Once cured, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer was applied across the 240sqm before applying Level IT Two at a 3-5mm depth.

Formulated to promote the adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sqm at 3:1 dilution, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer is a must-have product for all flooring installation projects.

There are many reasons why Level IT Two has become UltraFloor’s most popular floor leveller. Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects. Its low odour formulation means this fantastic all-rounder leveller is equally suited to confined areas, proving particularly popular in the education, health and hospitality sectors.

With a set time of 2.5 hours, Level IT Two can receive bonded floor coverings after just 8 hours, making it an ideal choice for projects with a tight deadline. What’s more, because Level IT Two is available as a two component system, it takes the guesswork out of mixing, reducing site errors and guaranteeing a perfect application every time.

Results

The 240sqm job was split over 2 blocks with each area taking just 4 days to complete.
