UltraTile delivers exceptional results across large-scale domestic project

Two stunning residential developments have been successfully completed using a full system of UltraTile products, showcasing outstanding performance, reliability, and finish across an expansive 528sqm tiling project.

Delivered by experienced UltraTiler Callum Barker of Callum Barker Wall & Floor Tiling, the project spanned two large five-bedroom homes and incorporated tiling across kitchens, utility rooms, hallways, garages, boot rooms, ensuites and bathrooms.

To ensure a high-quality and long-lasting installation, Callum utilised a complete UltraTile system, including ProAqua Shield tanking kit, ProPrimer, ProLevel Ultimate floor leveller, ProFlex SPES tile adhesive, and ProGrout Flexible grout in Silver Grey and Mid-Grey.

Comprehensive Preparation for Lasting Performance

Given the scale and complexity of the project, thorough preparation was essential. All eight bathrooms were carefully prepared using UltraTile ProPrimer, followed by the application of ProAqua Shield tanking kit.

The UltraTile ProAqua Shield tanking kit offers truly efficient waterproofing with just a single-coat application – no priming required – and allows tiling to begin in as little as 90 minutes, making it exceptionally fast and easy to use.

Designed for versatility and durability, ProAqua Shield performs equally well on both walls and floors across bathrooms, wetrooms, kitchens and commercial settings – providing robust protection across various substrates.

Wall tiles were then installed using ProFlex SPES adhesive, ensuring a strong and durable bond. ProFlex SPES is a standard set flexible tile adhesive available in both white and grey. ProFlex SPES is an S1 classified adhesive in accordance with EN 12004 and boasts a high level of deformation for greater tolerance to movement. The S1 properties of ProFlex SPES make it an ideal choice for timber and underfloor heating systems.

Electric underfloor heating was installed across each of the bathrooms using loose cable matting, before being encapsulated with ProLevel Ultimate levelling compound to create a smooth, level surface ready for tiling.

UltraTile ProLevel Ultimate is a fast-setting, free-flowing levelling compound that creates a smooth, even base for floor coverings. With excellent adhesion, no priming required, and suitability for underfloor heating, it offers a quick, reliable solution for professional floor preparation.

Precision Installation and Finishing Touches

A variety of tiles were used throughout the project including:

• Bottega Caliza and Acero (600x600mm)
• Bottega White (440x440mm and 330x590mm)
• Spiga Bottega White (330x590mm feature tiles)

Expansion joints were incorporated throughout the installation, with no more than 8m runs and additional joints at door thresholds to accommodate movement and long-term durability.

Walls were finished using ProGrout Flexible in Silver Grey, while floor tiles were completed in Mid-Grey, delivering a consistent and high-quality aesthetic across both properties.

Available in 14 gorgeous tones to suit all designs and tastes, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for use with all tile types and can be washed down easily with minimal effort. Designed for areas where movement and vibration is likely, ProGrout Flexible is suitable for joint widths up to 20mm, is mould resistant, and will set in just 12 hours.

Furthermore, ProGrout Flexible has been developed using ColourShield Technology – a process which involves the addition of a specialist additive for lasting colour protection.

A Testament to Skill and System Performance

Remarkably, the entire 528sqm project was completed by a single installer over the course of approximately three months, demonstrating both the efficiency of the UltraTile system and Callum Barker’s expertise.
