UltraFloor is a Teacher’s Pet at South West College

H & J Martin have utilised UltraFloor’s Level IT Two smoothing underlayment to complete a 350sqm project at South West College’s Enniskillen campus in Northern Ireland.

Background

Situated at the heart of the Tyrone and Fermanagh communities, South West College welcomes 14,000 students each year, with a dedicated staff of over 500 full and part-time employees. In preparation for the upcoming academic year, the college’s Enniskillen campus recently underwent a 350sqm flooring renovation.

The Challenge

As a new influx of students was soon to arrive, it became imperative that the project be completed on time and to a standard befitting South West College’s esteemed reputation.

The finished floor required a super smooth surface to eliminate safety hazards for students and staff walking across the campus. Additionally, it needed to be highly durable in order to withstand the constant foot traffic on the stairs and through the corridors.

The Solution

H & J Martin, a team of specialist flooring contractors, were hired for this project. They started by removing the old Marmoleum flooring from the staircases and corridors. Once the existing floorcovering had been removed, H & J Martin scarified the concrete substrate before priming with UltraFloor Prime IT Multi-surface Primer and levelling with Level IT Two multi-purpose smoothing underlayment.

Formulated to promote the adhesion to all UltraFloor smoothing underlayments, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer reduces pinholing, minimising the risk of costly failures. With a coverage rate of 200sqm at 3:1 dilution, Prime IT Multi-surface Primer is a must-have product for all flooring installation projects.

Its exceptional flow characteristics make it a very easy material to apply to a variety of subfloors in both commercial and domestic flooring projects. With a set time of 2.5 hours, Level IT Two can receive bonded floor coverings after just 8 hours, making it an ideal choice for projects with a tight deadline. What’s more, because Level IT Two is available as a two component system, it takes the guesswork out of mixing, reducing site errors and guaranteeing a perfect application every time.

Once Level IT Two had cured, the Gerflor Mipolam Affinity floorcovering was installed across the 350sqm area.

Results
